The dehesas of Valle de los Pedroches

Purebred Iberian pigs roam freely in the vast dehesa landscapes of natural pastures and holm oaks. This unique environment promotes extensive farming in keeping with Iberian tradition and contributes directly to the exceptional quality of the meat.

A diet rich in acorns

During the montanera, an essential period in Iberian breeding, the pigs feed mainly on acorns that have fallen from the oak trees and on natural resources found in the pastures. Each pig can consume between 8 and 10 kg of acorns per day. This rich diet promotes the infiltration of fat into the meat and contributes to the melt-in-the-mouth texture and characteristic aromas of the great Iberian bellota hams.
