This Bellota Ham comes from free-range 50% Iberian pigs fed exclusively on acorns, herbs and roots. Maturation times exceed 48 months.
This bellota ham is made from 50% Iberian pigs, which results in less fatty cuts. The result is a perfect balance with the characteristic taste of bellota ham.
Produced in the Badajoz region, one of Spain's prime Iberian pig-breeding areas with a long tradition. The oak forests are enormous and the feed is rich in acorns.
The provinces of Badajoz and Caceres form the Extremadura region. This region breeds the best Iberian pigs and has the richest oak forest ecosystem in Spain. This region is the origin of the Iberian pig, which has roamed the estates for centuries.
These animals eat large quantities of acorns throughout the day, which is what gives bellota ham its quality. To obtain a quality ham like this, each animal has to have one hectare (10,000 m2). In other words, in 200 hectares there will be 200 pigs with a real quality of life.
Each piece is controlled and has an official red seal at the end of each leg, guaranteeing the quality of the ham.
