Cinco Jotas 5J Pata Negra 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham is considered one of the absolute benchmarks of Spanish gastronomy. Produced in the Jabugo region of Andalusia, this ham comes from purebred Iberian pigs raised in the natural landscapes of the dehesa.
Iberian pigs roam freely in the vast pastures of the dehesa, which consist of meadows and holm oak trees. This unique ecosystem provides the ideal environment for traditional Iberian pig farming and contributes directly to the exceptional quality of the meat.
During the montanera, an essential period in the breeding cycle, the pigs feed mainly on acorns that have fallen from the oak trees, as well as on grasses and aromatic plants found in the pastures. This natural diet promotes the infiltration of fat into the meat and contributes to the melt-in-the-mouth texture and characteristic aromas of the great Iberian bellota hams.
Founded in 1879 in Jabugo, Cinco Jotas is now recognized worldwide for the exceptional quality of its hams. Thanks to expertise passed down through several generations, the brand selects the best cuts and continues the tradition of natural curing.
The hams are slowly cured in natural drying rooms for several years. This gradual maturation process develops a supple texture and a rich aroma with delicate notes of dried fruit.
Cinco Jotas 5J ham is now considered one of the most prestigious Iberian hams. It is appreciated for the fineness of its slices, its melt-in-the-mouth texture, and the complexity of its aromas.
