SOILS The soils of the Valdepusa estate are formed by a superficial layer of clay 30 to 50 cm thick, resting on a subsoil of limestone, fragmented 2 meters or more deep, which formed in the Cretaceous period. It's a basic soil type (pH> 8), with excellent structure, porosity and drainage, considered for centuries in Burgundy and other prestigious wine-growing regions as ideal for the production of great wines.

CLIMATE This is the central region of the Iberian Peninsula and in the sunniest band of Europe (3000 hours / year). Its climate is continental, with marked contrasts between hot, dry summers and cold winters, and between night and day in every season. The average temperature is 17°C, dropping to 5°C in winter and rising to 26°C in summer. Rainfall averages 450 mm. Vineyards are located at an average altitude of 490 meters.

VINEYARDS Dominio de Valdepusa vineyards have been pioneers in implementing cutting-edge technologies in their vineyards, such as drip irrigation (1974) and the latest generation of trellis and root systems. The result of using these advanced techniques in conjunction with scientifically proven biodynamic concepts are perfectly ripe grapes with maximum expression of terroir and an excellent balance between factors such as fruitiness and acidity.

PRODUCTION METHODS
It is transferred to 225-liter new or semi-new Bordeaux French oak barrels, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation for its extraordinary intensity of color, aroma and flavor, as well as its overflowing personality. It is aged for a long period in new 225-liter barrels with slightly higher than normal toast.

TASTING NOTES Intense black-blue color, bright and clean. The nose displays young grape aromas of formidable aromatic complexity, accompanied by notes of fresh mint and red roses. On the palate, its freshness, precision and elegance are astonishing, displaying notes of black fruit, plum, garrigue and spice. Fleshy and structured, but with a silky, surprisingly long finish.
